Oh, Sweet Jesus! (plays golf?)

I read through Hunter's latest on McCain's slogans, and clicked through to his campaign website to take a look at the new, improved, retooled version. By default, I keep scripts disabled, adding (usually temporary) permissions except for regularly visited sites like Daily Kos.
With scrips disabled, this is the first thing you see upon going to John McCain's website. (Well, captured and cropped, anyhow...)

I like the DNC's new welcome screen, too.

Granted, the McCain site greets you with something else with scripts allowed. It's just a little programming error really. But still! Do you ever want to greet the public at large, even just a segment of it, with "buy golf stuff" when you're running for freaking president? When people can't get health coverage? And gas costs more every week? And a record number of homes are in foreclosure?
It boggles the mind.
Also interesting that McCain has not only been moving towards Obama's slogans, but even the fonts now being used. Though he's still using this font, too, with the hint of militarism with the star, too. You can see it on backdrops for his TV appearances even now. I hope Obama is never reduced to speaking in front of a message backdrop like that! (No matter what the font...) This from just after he became the presumptive nominee. Back then no alternative FPs depending on cookie status.

Hillary's site throughout primary season greeted you with a prominent red button:

Once you submitted, it brought you to a standard front page, one which you would go to directly once a cookie is planted on your computer. Now, there's a new welcome screen.

And when you click SUBMIT, it brings you directly to a flippin' contribute page. Now that the DNC is featuring Obama as the nominee, one can only hope that Hillary will not "forget" to concede the race. This drawn out death scene is like the most classic of ham actor shticks.
I sent her a message all right: Hillary, you didn't win. It's past time: "End the drama. Stand up for Obama."
As an alternative to contributing cash to Obama, consider buying "stuff" from the Obama store. Since we've got our nominee, for real, it's time to start building unity, visibility and support. For contrast with the others, I've always thought that Obama had the best welcome screen:

But hell, Obama seems to send directly to donations page, too. Sigh. Once you click "skip contribute" there's a happy FP. Too bad money's so important, though:

Hopefully by the time of the general election, there will be that friendlier "welcome" screen for first time visitors.
Oh, and then there's the RNC. You wouldn't know they even had their own candidate for President. (There's several versions of their, with a slide show presentation. They are all anti-Obama.)
