WaPo article on Schmidt just devestating (and infuriating)
Tue Nov 22, 2005 at 10:46:45 PM PDT
This article on Jean "I haven't a CLUE what I'm doing" Schmidt has just hit a NEW rock bottom with some of these new choice quotes/statements. I mean, we all know she's an arrogant, ignorant fool who neither understands House decorum nor recognizes her grave mistake, but these revelations about her in this new WaPo article are breathtaking...

Let's get to the good stuff after the jump...
Both Cincy papers blast Schmidt
Tue Nov 22, 2005 at 07:31:51 AM PDT
Both major Cincy papers came out with editorials condemning Jean Schmidt's cheap shot against John Murtha. The Post was particularly harsh, while the Enquirer, as expected from the more conservative paper, was a bit more guarded.

Bubp Disavows Patrio-Whore Jean Schmidt
Tue Nov 22, 2005 at 07:16:34 AM PDT
It seems that on further reflection Ohio state rep. Danny Bubp doesn't want to be lynched on the same tree as his (former?) partner-in-shame US. Rep. Jean (I stole the election from a real war hero) Schmidt. Schmidt, most notable for stealing jump-suits from Mary Lou Retton, displayed the balls we all suspected she had last Friday by taking the stump during the Republican's Cut & Run proposal. Using the clever "I didn't say this but a real US Marine did" technique, she called our most distinquished Democratic hawk a "coward". It was obvious that just about the entire assembly shit their pants that moment but the US Marine in question apparently has had a delayed-reaction bowel movement and is now disowning Mrs. Schmidt's meaning if not his words.
Bubp says Schmidt misrepresented conversation
Mon Nov 21, 2005 at 11:32:19 PM PDT
On the floor of the United States House of Representatives last Friday, Rep. Jean Scmidt said, "A few minutes ago I received a call from Colonel Danny Bubp, Ohio Representative from the 88th district in the House of Representatives. He asked me to send Congress a message: Stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message, that cowards cut and run, Marines never do."
The New York Times is reporting that Danny Bubp is stating that Jean Schmidt misrepresented the nature of their conversation.
While Mr. Bubp, a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, opposes a quick withdrawal for forces, "he did not mention Congressman Murtha by name nor did he mean to disparage Congressman Murtha," said Karen Tabor, his spokeswoman. "He feels as though the words that Congresswoman Schmidt chose did not represent their conversation."
Asked to respond on Monday, the congresswoman's office said only, "Mrs. Schmidt's statement was never meant to disparage Congressman Murtha."
Operation Yellow Feather
Mon Nov 21, 2005 at 03:29:10 PM PDT
Since the run up to the War in Iraq, right-wing conservatives have sought to use a new McCarthyism to silence debate on the most important issues faced by the United States. Leaders who challenge the flawed policies of the administration are labeled as cowards or as unpatriotic sympathizers with terrorists. Operation Yellow Feather is a grass roots effort to tell Republican "chicken hawks" that we will not tolerate their "Red Scare" tactics.
Last week, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pennsylvania) stated his public position that the U.S. troops in Iraq should be redeployed outside Iraq in a manner consistent with their own safety. Rep. Murtha is a brave and distinguished man. He left college to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He gave lengthy service as a Marine, rising through the ranks to become a Colonel. He again volunteered for service in Vietnam. He was a decorated veteran, receiving the Bronze Star for Combat, two Purple Hearts, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Navy Distinguished Service Medal.
Danny Bubp-A Question For Vets.
Mon Nov 21, 2005 at 11:33:47 AM PDT
After the amazing attack on Rep. Murtha by Jean Schmidt on the floor of the House on Friday, I wanted to find out more about Danny Bubp, the Marine and Ohio State House member, who Rep. Schmidt said called her and asked her to say that "cowards cut and run."
There have been some very good diaries about this issue already posted, but there is one issue that has confused me. I went and visited Danny Bubp's official page at the Ohio State House website as well as his bio from his campaign site.
Deafening silence from Danny Bubp--time to attack!
Mon Nov 21, 2005 at 10:44:24 AM PDT
I like to think that there are things that are beyond the pale even for the most whacked of Repub wingers. Well, I'm beginning to wonder if that's still true after looking for any sign that Ohio state rep Danny Bubp has had the decency to apologize for his cheap shot against Jack Murtha. Yeah, yeah, Jean Schmidt actually delivered it, but he is the one responsible.
And what have I found. Nothing, nada, zip, zero, bupkis resembling an apology. Kossacks, it's time to attack.
Strategy is below the jump.
ACTION ALERT: Tell the Ohio State House Repub leadership to make Danny Bubp apologize
Sat Nov 19, 2005 at 10:32:18 PM PDT
While there are justly calls for Jean Schmidt to apologize to Jack Murtha for her outrageous cheap shot against him on Friday, little attention (at least as far as I can tell) has been paid to the other player in this--Ohio state representative Danny Bubp.
Bubp, for those who don't know, had Schmidt send a message to Murtha--"cowards cut and run, Marines never do." As far as I know, there have been no calls for this guy--a Marine reservist whose service record is a joke compared to that of Murtha--to apologize. The obvious course is to email him, but it's time to send some love to the Ohio State House Repub leadership as well.
Tell Schmidt and Bubp how you really feel

The complete contempt for institutions vital to the health and welfare of this Republic were manifest in Jean Schmidt's outrageous comments.
For those who missed her insanity, here is a video:

I think we need to let her and Danny Bubp know this sort of behavior is no longer tolerated and that people who behave this way will be held accountable.
State Rep Colonel Danny Bubp and US Rep Jean Schmidt are an embarrassment
Sat Nov 19, 2005 at 07:06:29 AM PDT
Not only to Ohio, but to the Republican party. Can you imagine to their surprise, "that woman" (I like repeating what Chris Matthews on Hardball called her. He said it with such disdain) being so obvious and transparent with her accusations, slirs and statements? We all know they like to TRY to be a little more slick, underhanded, backstabbing than that. You know, like now filing an ethics investigation on Rep. Murtha. Oh no, wait, that's still a bit too obvious. OK, the Republicans have lost their touch.
Who is Col. Danny Bubp?

Yesterday, as all the blogosphere, Left and Right, now knows, first-term Ohio Congresswoman Jean Schmidt offered these words as she stood in the well of the House:
Ms. Schmidt: Yesterday I stood at Arlington National Cemetery attending the funeral of a young marine in my district. He believed in what we were doing is the right thing and had the courage to lay his life on the line to do it. A few minutes ago I received a call from Colonel Danny Bop, Ohio Representative from the 88th district in the House of Representatives. He asked me to send Congress a message: Stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message, that cowards cut and run, Marines never do. Danny and the rest of America and the world want the assurance from this body - that we will see this through.
Of course, as we all know as well, Schmidt's personal attack on the Hon. Congressman (and two-time war veteran from Pennsylvania) sent the House floor into a well-deserved meltdown, with Democrats shutting down the body until Schmidt withdrew her words.
Tell Rep Schmidt and Bubp To Resign

Jean Schmidt and Danny Bubp: National Disgraces

Please take the time to write Rep. Jean Schmidt (r) and Ohio District 88 State Representative Danny Bubp (r) to apologize and RESIGN. We don't need smear merchants like this in the congress, and Ohioans don't need these troop bashers representing them.
Schmidt's remarks in congress:
"...A few minutes ago I received a call from Col Danny Bubp, Ohio representative from the 88th District in the House of Representatives. He asked me to send Congress a message, "Stay the course." He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message, "That cowards cut and run; Marines never do." Danny and the rest of America, and the world want the assurance from this body that we will..."
