Stop the tone and write your super delegates

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 09:54:03 AM PDT

I have been a member of this board for some time and rarely post diaries, so I apologize in advance if I'm breaking any rules.

I am saddened that the tone of the campaign is now starting to threaten an opportunity to dramatically change the direction of the country. I think us writing each other and trashing each other's candidate is counterproductive, but I believe the super delegates have the power to end these recent tactics by the Clinton camp. So I urge everyone to write their super delegates today. My letter is below:

The power of fear

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 12:13:34 PM PDT

As I taught my math courses today at my college, I sensed a feeling of despair in my class that reminded me of when I was teaching on the afternoon of September 11. As I walked through the campus, I see looks of disbelief and comments like "I can't believe we have 4 more years..." It is a tough life for many of these community college students, who are struggling financially but yet seek a hope of improving their lives during a time of budget cuts and tuition increases.

I, too, am feeling the same sense of shock after seeing the positive exit polls and then watch the devastating returns come in from Florida and Ohio. As it became clear we were losing all the close races, I went to bed feeling hopeless and wondering what kind of country I lived in, how could such an incompetent person win, how had the polls been so wrong?

Then I remembered the power of fear.

California Primary has started

Wed Feb 04, 2004 at 09:14:39 PM PDT

Today I received my absentee ballot for the Democratic primary.

California has one of the most liberal absentee ballot provisions in that any voter can be asked to be assigned to permanent absentee ballot status. About 25% of all votes in California are now cast absentee.

The question is: what effect does early voting in California have on the primary? What do you think?

Here are the 5 most important battleground states in the election:

Florida
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Wisconsin
Michigan

The democratic nominee must win 4 of these states.

In your opinion, who has the better chance of doing that?

Halliburton employees commit Fraud

Fri Jan 23, 2004 at 07:07:55 AM PDT

Here is the smoking gun on Halliburton:

Oil services company Halliburton Co has told the Pentagon that two employees took up to $6 million in kickbacks for awarding a Kuwaiti-based company with work supplying U.S. troops in Iraq, the Wall Street Journal said on Friday. It is the first solid indication of corruption involving U.S.-funded projects in Iraq, and could expose the company to fines and potential fraud charges, the paper said.

Why isn't this big news?

Tue Jan 06, 2004 at 02:57:55 PM PDT

WASHINGTON, Jan 6 (Reuters) - The U.S. Army said on Tuesday it had granted Halliburton a special waiver to bring fuel into Iraq under a no-bid deal with a Kuwaiti supplier despite a draft Pentagon audit that found evidence of overcharging for fuel.

I am sick of the lazy media.

Schwarzenegger robs Peter to pay Paul

Sat Dec 20, 2003 at 12:14:34 AM PDT

Schwarzenegger's first act as governor was to lower the car tax at a cost of additional $4,000,000,000 to the state's deficit. This money was earmarked for local police and fire, so he had to replace that.

Well, now we know who gets to pay for his foolish promise: our colleges and universities as per the attached memo that I received from my college:

Message to Veterans: Bush doesn't give a damn about you

Tue Nov 11, 2003 at 11:45:55 AM PDT

Today, as per custom, Bush will lay the wreath at Arlington and say some words about America's veterans. But does the Bush administation really care about our average soldiers?
